Banobras places 18 billion pesos in bonds for strategic infrastructure

The National Bank of Public Works and Services (Banobras) successfully issued three bonds totaling 18 billion pesos on the Mexican Stock Exchange. Two are sustainable with a gender perspective, aimed at supporting priority projects under the Plan México. The operation saw demand 1.3 times the offered amount, involving 37 institutional investors.

The National Bank of Public Works and Services (Banobras) successfully issued three bonds on the Mexican Stock Exchange (BMV) totaling 18 billion pesos. Two of these bonds are sustainable with a gender perspective, identified as BANOB 25-4, BANOB 25X, and BANOB 25-2X. The main objective is to support priority infrastructure projects within the Plan México, promoted by the administration of President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo.

The benefited sectors include social infrastructure, health, education, water access, electrification and public lighting, drainage, waste management, public transport and electromobility, security, and public spaces. This operation is part of the 2025 Annual Financing Plan and contributes to the Sustainable Financing Mobilization Strategy of the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit, as well as the Banobras Institutional Program 2025-2030.

The placement involved 37 institutional investors, such as development banking entities, Afores, brokerage houses, investment funds, insurers, and commercial banks. Total demand was 1.3 times the offered amount, reflecting strong market reception.

The tranche details are:
- BANOB 25-4: variable rate, 3.4-year term, 700 million pesos, at TIIE de Fondeo + 23 basis points; demand of 5,050 million pesos (7.21 times).
- BANOB 25X: fixed rate, 7.5-year term, 7,100 million pesos, 8.99% coupon; demand of 8,340 million pesos (1.17 times).
- BANOB 25-2X: fixed rate, 12-year term, 10,200 million pesos, 9.52% coupon; demand of 10,215 million pesos (1.00 times).

The issuance was conducted under Banobras' Sustainable Bonds Framework with Gender Perspective, aligned with Mexico's Sustainable Taxonomy and international standards from ICMA, IFC, UN Women, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
