Planning Minister Ahmed Rostom participated in a meeting of the OECD External Relations Committee to review cooperation between Egypt and the organisation. He described the partnership as long-standing and strategic, noting milestones since 2005 and Egypt's 2016 economic reform programme.
The first phase of the country programme ended with a closing conference in Cairo on 4 May attended by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly. Ten strategic reports were launched covering innovation, investment, green growth and other priorities.
Egypt is now leading consultations on the second phase, which will target deeper reforms in competitiveness, governance and private sector development. The country also holds co-chair roles in regional OECD initiatives through 2030.
