New York Mets slugger Juan Soto was a late scratch from Sunday's lineup against the Miami Marlins due to illness.
Juan Soto was removed from the Mets' starting lineup shortly before the series finale at loanDepot park in Miami. Manager Carlos Mendoza confirmed that Soto arrived with a fever and flu-like symptoms affecting the team in recent days. Mendoza said Soto is out after battling the illness for three days and showing up with body aches and little sleep. MJ Melendez took over as designated hitter while A.J. Ewing moved into the third spot in the batting order. Soto had been productive recently, batting .333 with four home runs and seven RBIs over his previous seven games.
