صدر حكم يوم الخميس بحق مالكة شركة رعاية صحية تبلغ من العمر 49 عاماً في ولاية فلوريدا، وذلك بعد اعترافها بتهم تشمل القتل من الدرجة الثالثة في قضية وفاة صبي يبلغ من العمر 7 سنوات نتيجة الجوع.

ستقضي ميرلاند مولتيمر، مالكة شركة "ساماريتان هوم هيلث كير"، عقوبة بالسجن لمدة 20 شهراً في سجن الولاية، تليها 16 شهراً في سجن فيدرالي. كما يتوجب عليها قضاء سبع سنوات تحت المراقبة ودفع تعويضات تزيد عن 25 ألف دولار. يأتي هذا الحكم نتيجة اتفاق إقرار بالذنب يغطي كلاً من القضايا المرفوعة على مستوى الولاية والقضايا الفيدرالية المتعلقة بوفاة ديونتي أتويل في يوم عيد الميلاد عام 2023.
