عززت الحكومة الكينية استعداداتها للطوارئ لمواجهة تفشي فيروس إيبولا في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية وأوغندا.

قال وزير الصحة عدن دوالي إنه تم تفعيل نظام وطني لإدارة الطوارئ من خلال المعهد الوطني للصحة العامة. وتظل مراكز عمليات الصحة العامة في حالة تأهب على المستويين الوطني ومستوى المقاطعات.

تم فحص أكثر من 34,500 مسافر عند نقاط الدخول في جميع أنحاء البلاد، بما في ذلك 18,552 مسافراً دولياً و2,514 سائق شاحنة.

وقد تم تجهيز مختبرات خاصة لاختبار فيروس إيبولا في كل من معهد كيمري في كيسومو، ومعهد كيمري في نيروبي، والمختبر الوطني للصحة العامة. كما عززت الحكومة تعاونها مع أوغندا، وجمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية، ومنظمة الصحة العالمية، ومجموعة شرق أفريقيا، ومراكز السيطرة على الأمراض والوقاية منها في أفريقيا.

ولم يتم تأكيد أي حالة إصابة بإيبولا مرتبطة بالتفشي الحالي في كينيا. وقد كثفت المقاطعات، بما في ذلك توركانا وبوسيا، من عمليات التفتيش على الحدود وجاهزية المستشفيات.
