Aston Martin has revealed the livery for its 2026 Formula 1 car, the AMR26, at a launch event in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The British Racing Green design with a matte finish marks the team's first car under Adrian Newey's leadership and its new partnership with Honda. The unveiling comes ahead of pre-season testing in Bahrain.
Aston Martin Aramco Formula One Team launched its 2026 season with a special event at the Ithra cultural centre in Dhahran, near Dammam, Saudi Arabia, on February 9, 2026. The highlight was the unveiling of the AMR26's livery on a show car, featuring the team's signature British Racing Green in a new matte finish. This design pays homage to the team's heritage while incorporating logos from new powertrain partner Honda and title sponsor Aramco, which dominates the advertising space and has developed sustainable fuels for the season.
The AMR26 represents a milestone as the first car shaped by Adrian Newey, who joined as managing technical partner and team principal in March 2025. It also ushers in Aston Martin's era as a full works team with Honda, following the Japanese manufacturer's departure from Red Bull after 2025. The car debuted during the Barcelona shakedown test last month, running in an all-black livery due to time constraints. On the final two days at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, Lance Stroll managed only five laps before a stoppage on Thursday, while Fernando Alonso completed 61 laps on Friday after overnight fixes. The design drew attention for its aerodynamic solutions, including additional fins around the halo, a central air intake, and recessed sidepod inlets.
Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll emphasized the team's ambition: "The AMR26 represents a defining step for Aston Martin Aramco as we enter Formula One’s new era in 2026. These regulations mark the biggest reset the sport has seen in a generation, and we are approaching it with clear ambition: to build a team capable of winning."
Newey described the car as "one of the more extreme interpretations" of the 2026 rules, noting the compressed design timeline: "With brand new regulations, the best philosophy is never immediately obvious... We've taken a holistic approach: it’s not about one standout component, but how the full package works together."
Alonso, entering his fourth season with the team alongside Stroll, highlighted the importance: "Everything combines in a very important season for the team... I feel this is a very important moment for the team. It's the very first time we are a works team."
Honda's F1 project leader Tetsushi Kakuda cautioned on development: "The electrification side is progressing as planned," but added it was "not necessarily the case for the internal combustion engine."
The AMR26 will make its public debut at the Bahrain pre-season test starting February 11, leading into the season opener in Melbourne. Despite finishing seventh in the 2025 constructors' championship, Aston Martin aims to leverage its new facilities, including the AMR Technology Campus, and partnerships to challenge for podiums and beyond.
