IMF advarer om risici ved høje forsvarsudgifter

Den Internationale Valutafond (IMF) har i en ny analyse advaret om, at høje forsvarsudgifter udgør risici trods vækstimpulser. I Tyskland planlægger finansminister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) at bruge omkring 83 milliarder euro på forsvar i år. På verdensplan har omkring halvdelen af alle lande øget deres militærbudgetter over de seneste fem år.

Finansminister Lars Klingbeil (SPD) mødes med sine modparter ved IMFs forårsmøde i Washington i næste uge. For omkring et år siden løsnede Forbundsdagen gældsbremsen for at give mulighed for mere låntagning til forsvarsudgifter. Klingbeil har hævet forsvarsbudgettet til den næststørste post på det føderale budget – fra 47 milliarder euro for fem år siden til 83 milliarder nu.

IMFs analyse, der blev offentliggjort onsdag, undersøger, hvorvidt stigende statslige udgifter til oprustning kan stimulere den økonomiske vækst. Fonden bekræfter positive effekter, men advarer om negative bivirkninger, der allerede viser sig – blandt andet i Tyskland.

Midt i de geopolitiske spændinger forventer IMF, at udgiftstendensen vil fortsætte. Omkring halvdelen af alle lande har øget deres militærbudgetter over de seneste fem år.
