Urman texted Rodriguez late at night offering the part, receiving an affirmative reply just minutes later, which helped shape Lida's portrayal. She expressed hope for Rodriguez's return next season as Senior faces trial. Other Jane the Virgin cast members on Matlock include Yael Grobglas as jury consultant Shae, Justina Machado as Senior's ex-wife Eva, Yara Martinez as a client with AI software, and Bridget Regan as a prosecutor in the finale. Urman hinted at bringing back Grobglas, citing a genuine connection with Matty, and enthusiastically confirmed Jaime Camil, who played Rogelio de la Vega, will appear: 'Yes, yes, yes. Absolutely. One hundred percent.'
