Salgsprocessen blev dog »afsluttet uden resultat«, som ledelsen oplyste. Kreditornemnden har godkendt den planlagte nedlukning. Driften skal indstilles inden sommeren 2026, uden at en nøjagtig dato er angivet.  nnpå hovedkvarteret i Passau arbejder ca. 400 ansatte. De primære kunder er kontorarbejdere og ledere. Kun firmanavnet »Eterna« sælges, hvilket muliggør, at mærket kan fortsætte uafhængigt af den tidligere virksomhed og uden Passau-lokationen.  nnEterna blev grundlagt i 1863 i Wien som et tekstilværksted, med Passau-hovedkvarteret etableret i 1927. Virksomheden var et af de få tilbageværende traditionelle huse i den tyske tøjindustri. Økonomiske vanskeligheder har varet i årevis; Eterna gennemførte en omstruktureringsprocedure i 2021. Tøjindustrien som helhed er under pres.
