Emart opens first No Brand outlet in Thailand

Emart, South Korea's largest discount retailer, opened its first private-label No Brand outlet in Thailand on Tuesday as part of its global expansion. The store at Central Bangna shopping mall in Bangkok operates under a master franchise agreement with local partner Central Food Retail.

Emart announced in a press release on Tuesday that it signed a master franchise agreement with Central Food Retail to launch the outlet at Central Bangna shopping mall in Bangkok. Under the deal, the franchisee can open and operate stores in the designated territory and grant subfranchise rights to third parties.

The store offers around 2,300 products, including Korean snacks, instant noodles and home meal replacement (HMR) items. It features a cooking station serving Korean dishes such as "gimbap" and "tteokbokki."

"The first No Brand store will serve as a strategic bridgehead to promote Emart's brand and Korean food in Southeast Asia," a company official said.

Emart opened its first No Brand outlet in Laos in December 2024 and has expanded to four locations there. The new outlet marks the first offline store by a South Korean retailer in Thailand.
