Francisco Martínez und Alejandra Mizala in der Stichwahl um das Rektorenamt der Universität von Chile

Da kein Kandidat im ersten Wahlgang die absolute Mehrheit erreichte, werden Alejandra Mizala und Francisco Martínez am 2. Juni um das Rektorenamt für die Amtszeit 2026-2030 konkurrieren.

Nach Schließung der Wahllokale zeigten die Ergebnisse, dass Mizala 42,72 % der gewichteten Stimmen erhielt, während Martínez 23,02 % erreichte. Sergio Lavandero und Pablo Ruiz-Tagle schieden mit 22,33 % bzw. 11,75 % aus.

Die Wahlbeteiligung lag bei 72 % der 4.222 wahlberechtigten Akademiker, ein Rekord, der durch die erstmalige Nutzung der elektronischen Stimmabgabe bei diesem Prozess begünstigt wurde. Die Stichwahl wird am 2. Juni ebenfalls elektronisch stattfinden.

Wahlberechtigt sind Professoren mit mindestens einem Jahr Dienstzeit an der Institution. Die derzeitige Rektorin Rosa Devés hatte 2022 mit 51,6 % der Stimmen bereits im ersten Wahlgang gewonnen.
