Kimi Antonelli gelingt erster Formel-1-Grand-Slam in Monaco

Kimi Antonelli sicherte sich am Sonntag beim Großen Preis von Monaco seinen ersten Formel-1-Grand-Slam. Der Mercedes-Pilot gewann das Rennen von der Pole-Position aus, führte jede Runde an und fuhr die schnellste Rennrunde.

Antonelli feierte damit seinen fünften Sieg in Folge in dieser Saison. Er hatte sich einen Vorsprung von 30 Sekunden herausgefahren, bevor nach einem Unfall von Lance Stroll das Safety-Car auf die Strecke geschickt wurde. Mercedes-Teamchef Toto Wolff erklärte, das Team sei von Antonellis Tempo überrascht gewesen. Er merkte an, dass der Italiener Runden fuhr, die zwei Sekunden schneller waren als die der McLarens und mehr als eine Sekunde schneller als die der Ferraris. Der 19-Jährige wurde damit zum jüngsten Fahrer, dem ein Grand Slam gelang, und unterbot Max Verstappens bisherigen Rekord um fast vier Jahre. In der Fahrerwertung führt Antonelli nun mit 66 Punkten Vorsprung vor Lewis Hamilton und 68 Punkten vor seinem Teamkollegen George Russell. Wolff betonte trotz des Punkterückstands und der jüngsten Rückschläge für den Briten weiterhin sein Vertrauen in Russell.
