South Korea and Jiangsu hold forum to expand trade cooperation

South Korea's trade ministry and the government of China's Jiangsu Province held a joint forum on Wednesday to promote economic and trade cooperation between the two sides.

The seventh Korea-Jiangsu business and trade exchange forum took place in Yancheng city in eastern Jiangsu Province. About 400 government officials and business leaders from both sides attended, including Korean Trade Minister Yeo Han-koo.

Korean companies held more than 300 business consultations with Chinese firms. They signed 11 export deals worth US$2.3 million, involving companies such as dried seaweed manufacturer KwangCheonKim Co. and HS Hyosung Advanced Materials.

Jiangsu ranks as South Korea's top partner region for trade and investment. More than 3,000 Korean companies, including Samsung Electronics, SK hynix and Kia, operate there. Bilateral trade reached $86.3 billion in 2025, accounting for 30.6 percent of total South Korea-China trade.
