The decision aligns with the four-track agreement signed by the state in 2017 with Uppsala municipality, Region Uppsala, and Knivsta municipality. The national plan ensures funding to complete the four tracks by 2034 at the latest, along with new train stations south of Bergsbrunna and in Alsike.

The government's full plan is expected to be presented shortly. The project aims to enhance capacity on the route between the two cities.
