Neiva monitors Nueva EPS medication issues amid Colsubsidio transition

Neiva's Municipal Health Secretariat is monitoring medication delivery challenges by Nueva EPS following the national transition from Colsubsidio to new providers like Discolmets. Work sessions with health authorities aim to protect user rights, with calls for complaints to speed resolutions.

Following Nueva EPS's national activation of new pharmaceutical managers after Colsubsidio ceased operations on January 1, 2026—including Discolmets in departments like Huila—the Neiva Municipal Health Secretariat has intensified monitoring of medication dispensing issues affecting local users.

This stems from a broader crisis in pharmaceutical supply. The secretariat has held ongoing sessions with the Departmental Health Secretariat and National Superintendence of Health for oversight. Discolmets began handling medical formulas issued from December 6, 2026, onward, with prior ones under Colsubsidio's responsibility until closure.

Users who bought medications out-of-pocket can seek reimbursement from Nueva EPS with invoices and proof of denial. While the municipality cannot sanction, it channels complaints and recently joined inter-institutional meetings with the Public Ministry, Ombudsman's Office, and others to urge improvements from Nueva EPS and Discolmets.

Complaints can be filed via email at sac@alcaldianeiva.gov.co or at Neiva City Hall.
