Tesla released a First Responders Guide that clarifies production Cybercab vehicles will not include a steering wheel or pedals. The document states such controls appear only on engineering or test versions operating at SAE Level 2 autonomy. Production of the ride-hailing vehicle began in April at Giga Texas.
The guide provides emergency personnel with instructions for handling accidents or entrapments involving the Cybercab. It explicitly notes that standard production units operate without manual controls.
Some test vehicles still carry a steering wheel and pedals, but Tesla described these as non-standard engineering units. Production models spotted earlier this year already lacked these features.
The clarification ends speculation that passengers might receive manual override options in regular service vehicles. Tesla continues to position the Cybercab as a fully autonomous ride-hailing platform.
