Le gouverneur de Bomet condamné à un mois de prison pour outrage au tribunal

Un tribunal de Nakuru a condamné le gouverneur de Bomet, Hillary Barchok, et 10 autres responsables du comté à un mois de prison pour outrage au tribunal.

La sentence a été prononcée le jeudi 18 juin, après que les responsables ont omis de réintégrer des travailleurs dont les contrats avaient été résiliés illégalement. Le tribunal des relations de travail et de l'emploi avait ordonné au gouvernement du comté de Bomet de réintégrer les employés en mars. Le tribunal a ordonné aux 11 responsables de purger leur peine à la prison GK de Nakuru jusqu'à ce qu'ils se conforment à la directive de réintégration. Le gouverneur Barchok n'a pas été arrêté et a poursuivi ses fonctions officielles, notamment des inspections de projets routiers. Il avait annoncé son intention de se présenter au siège de sénateur du comté de Bomet sous la bannière de l'United Democratic Alliance lors des élections de 2027. Le gouverneur avait déjà fait face à des accusations de corruption en 2025.
