La Chambre des députés a soutenu lundi une prolongation de 30 jours de l'état d'exception dans la macrozone sud. La mesure vise à lutter contre la violence rurale à La Araucanía et au Biobío.

La Chambre des députés a approuvé la prolongation avec 112 voix pour, 20 contre et 11 abstentions. L'initiative, demandée par le président José Antonio Kast, est maintenant transmise au Sénat pour examen ce mardi.

Le ministre de l'Intérieur Claudio Alvarado a annoncé un projet de loi visant à étendre les pouvoirs des forces armées durant ces états d'exception. Cela inclut les contrôles d'identité préventifs, les fouilles de vêtements et de véhicules, ainsi que les arrestations en flagrant délit.

Alvarado a également indiqué que le gouvernement accélérera un projet de loi sur la réparation des victimes hérité de l'administration précédente. Environ 6 000 millions de pesos seront alloués à des programmes de soutien économique et d'accompagnement.

Le ministre a noté une baisse de 80 % des incidents violents depuis le pic de 2023. Un commandement militaire unifié pour la macrozone est également à l'étude.
