Une avocate chilienne élue au Comité des droits de l'enfant des Nations unies

Carmen Domínguez Hidalgo a été élue mardi à New York avec 112 voix en tant que membre du Comité des droits de l'enfant des Nations unies pour le mandat 2027-2031.

L'avocate chilienne et professeure à l'Universidad Católica a obtenu l'un des neuf sièges renouvelés parmi 16 candidats. Les ministères des Affaires étrangères et du Développement social et de la Famille ont confirmé l'élection devant les 196 États parties à la Convention relative aux droits de l'enfant. Le chancelier Francisco Pérez Mackenna a souligné l'engagement du Chili en faveur des droits des enfants et des adolescents. La ministre María Jesús Wulf a mis en avant les connaissances de Mme Domínguez dans ce domaine. Le Comité, composé de 18 experts indépendants, supervise l'application du traité international relatif aux droits de l'homme le plus largement ratifié. Mme Domínguez possède 35 ans d'expérience dans les secteurs public et privé.
