Abogada chilena elegida para el Comité de los Derechos del Niño de la ONU

Carmen Domínguez Hidalgo fue elegida este martes en Nueva York con 112 votos como integrante del Comité de los Derechos del Niño de la ONU para el periodo 2027-2031.

La abogada chilena y profesora de la Universidad Católica obtuvo uno de los nueve cupos renovados entre 16 candidatos. Los ministerios de Relaciones Exteriores y de Desarrollo Social y Familia confirmaron la elección ante los 196 estados parte de la Convención sobre los Derechos del Niño.

El canciller Francisco Pérez Mackenna destacó el compromiso de Chile con los derechos de niños y adolescentes. La ministra María Jesús Wulf resaltó el conocimiento de Domínguez en la materia.

El comité, compuesto por 18 expertos independientes, supervisa la aplicación del tratado internacional más ratificado en derechos humanos. Domínguez posee 35 años de trayectoria en el sector público y privado.
