Carmen Domínguez Hidalgo foi eleita nesta terça-feira em Nova York, com 112 votos, como membro do Comitê sobre os Direitos da Criança da ONU para o mandato de 2027-2031.

A advogada chilena e professora da Universidad Católica garantiu uma das nove vagas renovadas entre 16 candidatos. Os Ministérios das Relações Exteriores e do Desenvolvimento Social e Família confirmaram a eleição perante os 196 estados partes da Convenção sobre os Direitos da Criança. O chanceler Francisco Pérez Mackenna destacou o compromisso do Chile com os direitos de crianças e adolescentes. A ministra María Jesús Wulf enfatizou o conhecimento de Domínguez na área.
