Chilenische Juristin in UN-Ausschuss für die Rechte des Kindes gewählt

Carmen Domínguez Hidalgo wurde am Dienstag in New York mit 112 Stimmen zum Mitglied des UN-Ausschusses für die Rechte des Kindes für die Amtszeit 2027-2031 gewählt.

Die chilenische Juristin und Professorin an der Universidad Católica sicherte sich einen von neun neu zu besetzenden Sitzen unter 16 Kandidaten. Das Außenministerium sowie das Ministerium für soziale Entwicklung und Familie bestätigten die Wahl vor den 196 Vertragsstaaten des Übereinkommens über die Rechte des Kindes.

Außenminister Francisco Pérez Mackenna hob das Engagement Chiles für die Rechte von Kindern und Jugendlichen hervor. Ministerin María Jesús Wulf betonte die Fachkenntnis von Domínguez auf diesem Gebiet.

Der Ausschuss, der aus 18 unabhängigen Experten besteht, überwacht die Umsetzung des am weitesten verbreiteten internationalen Menschenrechtsvertrags. Domínguez verfügt über 35 Jahre Erfahrung im öffentlichen und privaten Sektor.
