Le ministère du Travail rend obligatoire la vérification biométrique pour les bénéficiaires d'Inua Jamii

Le gouvernement kényan a annoncé une procédure de vérification biométrique obligatoire pour tous les bénéficiaires du programme de transfert monétaire Inua Jamii. Cette mesure vise plus de 1,7 million de Kényans vulnérables recevant des allocations mensuelles de 2 000 KES. Elle a pour but de confirmer l'éligibilité et de supprimer les bénéficiaires fictifs du système.

Le ministère du Travail a lancé l'opération de preuve de vie le 13 mai 2026. Le secrétaire principal au Travail, Joseph Motari, a déclaré que l'initiative utilisera la reconnaissance digitale et faciale pour vérifier que les bénéficiaires et les aidants sont en vie et éligibles. La vérification se déroulera dans tous les comtés du 1er juin au 31 juillet 2026. Les bénéficiaires doivent se présenter dans les centres désignés munis de leur carte d'identité nationale. Les personnes s'occupant de bénéficiaires dans l'incapacité de se déplacer doivent contacter les agents locaux de protection sociale. M. Motari a averti que la non-participation pourrait entraîner des retards ou la suspension des versements. Le programme Inua Jamii soutient les personnes âgées, les personnes handicapées et d'autres groupes vulnérables par le biais de transferts monétaires mensuels.
