Ministério do Trabalho determina verificação biométrica obrigatória para beneficiários do Inua Jamii

O governo do Quênia anunciou uma operação de verificação biométrica obrigatória para todos os beneficiários do programa de transferência de renda Inua Jamii. A medida visa mais de 1,7 milhão de quenianos vulneráveis que recebem auxílios mensais de 2.000 xelins quenianos. O objetivo é confirmar a elegibilidade e remover beneficiários fantasmas do sistema.

O Ministério do Trabalho lançou a operação Prova de Vida em 13 de maio de 2026. O secretário principal do Trabalho, Joseph Motari, declarou que a iniciativa utilizará reconhecimento facial e de impressão digital para verificar se os beneficiários e seus cuidadores estão vivos e aptos a receber. A verificação ocorrerá em todos os condados de 1º de junho a 31 de julho de 2026. Os beneficiários devem comparecer aos centros designados com suas carteiras de identidade nacionais. Os cuidadores de pessoas impossibilitadas de viajar devem entrar em contato com os agentes locais de proteção social. Motari alertou que a não participação poderá levar a atrasos ou à suspensão dos pagamentos. O programa Inua Jamii apoia idosos, pessoas com deficiência e outros grupos vulneráveis por meio de transferências mensais de dinheiro.
