Ubisoft réagit à la fin du support des disques PlayStation

Le PDG d'Ubisoft, Yves Guillemot, a abordé le plan de Sony visant à abandonner progressivement les disques PlayStation d'ici 2028 lors de la dernière conférence sur les résultats de l'entreprise. Il a souligné les avantages et les inconvénients tout en prédisant une perturbation limitée pour l'industrie.

Guillemot a déclaré que le passage aux ventes exclusivement numériques sur PC avait permis d'élargir le marché. Il a ajouté que la suppression des supports physiques allégerait la pression sur les coûts matériels et rendrait les consoles plus abordables.

Le dirigeant a reconnu les compromis nécessaires, mais a conclu que ce changement ne perturberait pas outre mesure l'industrie. La décision de Sony vise à conserver une plus grande part des revenus en évitant les commissions versées aux détaillants et aux détenteurs de plateformes.

Ubisoft a fait état d'une baisse de près de 10 % de ses résultats trimestriels sur un an, dans un contexte de restructuration. Son remake Assassin's Creed Black Flag: Resynced s'est vendu à plus de 3,5 millions d'exemplaires et a dépassé les objectifs annuels.
