Xbox tests cloud streaming feature to skip update waits

Microsoft is rolling out a new option for Xbox Insiders that allows Game Pass subscribers to launch supported games via cloud streaming while updates or installations continue in the background.

The feature aims to reduce wait times for players facing large updates. According to a post on Xbox Wire, users will see an option to launch with cloud gaming directly from the game card during installs or updates.

“This means less waiting and more time playing,” the post states. The change is part of a preview update sent to Xbox Insiders.

The same update also raises the maximum Gamertag length to 15 characters, adds Xbox 360 Achievements to Game Hub pages, and simplifies adding games to a wishlist from the game card. Microsoft has described these adjustments as part of an effort to improve the console experience more quickly.
