A Hong Kong sightseeing tour bus driver has been arrested for allegedly stealing HK$110 (US$14) in passenger fares, according to police. A police spokesman said on Friday that a 27-year-old suspect was arrested on suspicion of theft on December 23, days before the Christmas holiday.

Officers were called to a bus terminus at Man Kwong Street in Central shortly before 5pm on Tuesday following a report about the alleged theft. The suspect was reportedly operating a Citybus H2 open-top sightseeing route. An internal inspection by bus company staff at the terminus found that the driver had improperly handled fare revenue, totalling about HK$110.

The driver has been fired by Citybus, according to reports. The incident occurred ahead of the Christmas holiday, with the route serving popular tourist areas in Hong Kong such as Tsim Sha Tsui and Wan Chai, though the key events unfolded in Central.
