Mapfre will launch the "meu pet" service on Monday (6), a 24-hour assistance for dogs and cats linked to home insurance, at an extra cost of about R$ 250 per year. Each policy covers up to two pets and is managed by Mawdy, a group company.
Mapfre announced the April 6 launch of a 24-hour assistance service for dogs and cats exclusive to home insurance customers. "Meu pet" requires an estimated annual extra of R$ 250 and allows up to two pets per policy. It is managed by Mawdy, a specialist in assistance services.
Coverage includes veterinary telemedicine, elective and emergency consultations, lab and imaging tests, plus emergency transport for accidents, illnesses, or sudden death. It also covers pet boarding if the owner is hospitalized, funeral support, transport in case of death, cremation or burial, and concierge services for accredited clinics and pet shops.
The service comes amid Brazil's pet market growth, which reached about R$ 78 billion last year after R$ 75.4 billion in 2024. It aligns with Mapfre's strategy to expand home insurance benefits, tying into "abril laranja," the month for animal cruelty awareness.
Andréa Nogueira, director of massified insurance at the company, noted that pets are part of family routines, and this option cuts extra costs and streamlines expenses. "There is a change in how consumers relate to insurance," she said.
