한국 국회는 3월 미국 투자 촉진을 위한 투자법을 통과시켰다. 협정에 따라 연간 투자 상한은 200억 달러로 정해졌다.
김 장관은 일본이 이미 첫 투자 프로젝트를 발표했다는 지적에 대해 "프로젝트 발표만으로 진행되는 것이 아니다"라며 한국이 뒤처졌다는 주장을 반박했다. 그는 루이지애나 액화천연가스 수출 터미널 건설이 첫 프로젝트가 될지 여부는 아직 결정되지 않았다고 덧붙였다.
또한 미국의 섹션 301 무역 조사와 관련해 한국 제품에 적용될 관세가 이전 15% 수준을 유지할 것으로 예상하며, 이를 위해 노력하겠다고 밝혔다.
