In Cortina, Italy, during the 2026 Olympics, siblings Isabella and Rasmus Wranå from Sundbybergs CK won gold in mixed doubles curling. The final against the USA ended 6–5 after drama until the very end. Isabella Wranå threw the decisive stone in the eighth end, securing the victory. “Those who know me know that’s a shot I want on the last. I felt quite safe,” she told SVT Sport after the match.
Rasmus Wranå described the moment as “completely incredible.” “We got it just as we wanted: a relatively difficult shot on the last stone. And to make it and roar out like that... yeah, it’s completely incredible,” he said. The match was marked by tension, including Isabella’s placement for 3–2 in the fourth end and another for 1–0 early on. In the sixth end, she secured the lead with precision, despite the USA’s chance to steal a point.
The win marks Sweden’s fifth Olympic gold in curling and the first in mixed doubles. Parents Monika and Mats Wranå, curlers themselves, watched the drama from the stands. Afterwards, medalists were treated to a party at Hotel Menardi.
Back in Sweden, the gold created curling fever. Zlatan Ibrahimović, watching the match on SVT from Milan, shouted “Lets goooo” on Instagram. Zara Larsson shared a post from Isabella. The siblings reacted with surprise: “Oh my god, so damn cool,” said Isabella, and Rasmus added: “Holy crap! Damn cool that Zlatan is watching.” They invited Zlatan: “Come and try,” said Rasmus, and Isabella agreed: “Yes, he can come and try. It would be gold.”
