Tekila Restaurant Group to launch Zona 55 in Senatobia

Tekila Restaurant Group is advancing plans for a new Mexican restaurant called Zona 55 in Senatobia, Mississippi. The concept will occupy the former Applebee’s location at 181 Norfleet Drive. Construction appears nearly complete, signaling an imminent opening.

Following the successful debut of Fuego Vivo, Tekila Restaurant Group is developing its latest venture, Zona 55, in Senatobia. The new Mexican eatery is set to take over the storefront at 181 Norfleet Drive, previously home to Applebee’s.

Recent photos indicate significant progress on the project. The exterior looks largely finished, with a dumpster present outside, while the interior remains under construction. However, the group seems close to completion.

Details about Zona 55 are limited at this stage, as the restaurant lacks an online presence. Tekila Restaurant Group has established a reputation for Mexican cuisine through its existing outlets, including Tekila Mexican Steakhouse and Fuego Vivo.

Ricardo Rivera, the group’s controller, emphasized the importance of service in their approach. He stated, “We want to stand out by the service we provide. I can go to an amazing restaurant and have the greatest food in the world, but if I don’t feel comfortable, if I don’t feel welcome, I probably won’t return. For me, service is top priority.”

This expansion reflects the group’s ongoing growth in the hospitality sector around Memphis. No specific opening date has been announced.

Rising rents and property values are squeezing independent operators, according to industry veterans. This trend highlights challenges for small businesses amid the city's booming food scene.
