Lula e Bachelet conversaram por cerca de 40 minutos no Palácio do Planalto. O presidente afirmou que discutiu o papel de uma ONU reformada na promoção da paz e do desenvolvimento sustentável.

O governo brasileiro avalia opções legais e fontes de recursos para custear despesas de campanha da ex-presidente chilena, como passagens e hospedagens. Até o momento, o Brasil não gastou valores com a candidatura.

O Chile retirou o apoio após a posse de José Antonio Kast. Antes da mudança, Santiago havia destinado cerca de US$ 28 mil para a campanha. Bachelet deve retornar à sede da ONU em Nova York no final de junho para conversas com membros permanentes do Conselho de Segurança.
