Busch: Sweden should be a leading mining nation

Energy and business minister Ebba Busch presented the government's new mineral strategy on Wednesday. The strategy aims to open more mines in Sweden.

Ebba Busch (KD) held a press conference where she emphasized that Sweden should be a leading mining nation. She presented the mineral strategy that lists measures to utilize minerals in the Swedish bedrock.

An investigation will be appointed in August to review the state mineral fee. The investigation will examine whether the fee can go to municipalities or regions where mines exist.

The government wants to establish a new environmental authority for faster permits and investigate whether areas such as Malmfälten and Skelleftefältet should become areas of national interest. Busch states that the dialogue with the Sami is good.
