EPRA fecha local de desvio ilegal de combustível próximo aos depósitos da KPC em Nairóbi

A Autoridade Reguladora de Energia e Petróleo (EPRA) invadiu um local de desvio ilegal de petróleo na Zona Industrial de Nairóbi na sexta-feira, apreendendo cerca de 800 litros de combustível e equipamentos. Nenhum suspeito foi preso, pois fugiram após receberem um aviso. Uma operação de busca está em andamento.

Na sexta-feira, a equipe de vigilância e fiscalização da EPRA, em colaboração com a Unidade de Polícia de Energia, invadiu um local de desvio ilegal de petróleo ao ar livre na Nadume Road, saindo da Lunga-Lunga Road, na Zona Industrial do Condado de Nairóbi.

"Hoje, nossa sempre vigilante equipe de fiscalização e vigilância, em colaboração com a Unidade de Polícia de Energia, invadiu um local de desvio ilegal de petróleo ao ar livre localizado na Nadume Road, saindo da Lunga-Lunga Road, na zona industrial do Condado de Nairóbi", afirmou a EPRA em um comunicado.

Os agentes apreenderam aproximadamente 800 litros de combustível desviado, juntamente com equipamentos usados na operação, incluindo mangueiras de borracha, tambores, um contêiner de alumínio e galões de 20 litros.

Os suspeitos fugiram após receberem uma dica de informantes, evitando a prisão. "O local foi isolado enquanto a busca pelos culpados se intensifica", afirmou a EPRA. O local fica próximo às instalações de armazenamento da Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), um ponto central para a distribuição de combustível em Nairóbi e na África Oriental.

A operação ocorre em meio a uma saga contínua de contaminação de combustível envolvendo gasolina fora dos padrões no mercado.
