Família de empresário sequestrado presta depoimentos cruciais à PDI

A companheira e os filhos de Jorge Vera, o empresário do setor de ferragens de 84 anos sequestrado em San Miguel, prestaram depoimento à PDI poucas horas após o rapto ocorrido em 21 de abril.

A companheira de 75 anos de Vera declarou na madrugada de 22 de abril que a vítima era entusiasta de corridas de cavalos e mantinha uma conta internacional para esses ganhos, administrada pelo filho. Ela também mencionou a venda de um terreno por aproximadamente 300 milhões de pesos em novembro do ano anterior.

A filha, que gerencia as contas do pai, afirmou que o terreno ainda não tinha sido vendido devido à sua licença médica. O filho confirmou que a conta das corridas de cavalos tinha cerca de 15 milhões de pesos e que os sequestradores exigiram primeiro 55 milhões e, depois, um bilhão de pesos.

Os sequestradores, ligados ao Tren de Aragua, interceptaram Vera perto de seu apartamento em San Miguel e o levaram para uma oficina mecânica. A família fez algumas transferências, mas não pagou o valor total exigido. Vera foi resgatado com vida posteriormente.
