O vice-ministro da Economia e Mineração, Daniel Mas, declarou na quinta-feira que a auditoria interna confirmou a supervalorização de 26.875 toneladas de cobre durante o ano fiscal de 2025. Este número representa 2% da produção própria reportada pela empresa e divide-se em 20.000 toneladas de óxidos em Chuquicamata e 6.875 toneladas de arseneto de cálcio em Ministro Hales. Mas ressaltou que este não foi um erro menor. “Estamos falando de outra falha grave nos controles, na gestão e na responsabilidade com que a Codelco deve ser administrada”, disse ele. Ele acrescentou que a Codelco pertence ao Chile e que alterar números afeta o patrimônio de todos. A empresa tomou medidas disciplinares: demitiu o gerente de orçamento e controle de gestão, César Márquez, e repreendeu outros sete executivos. O conselho apresentou uma queixa ao Ministério Público para investigar possíveis crimes. Mas esclareceu que os trabalhadores não têm responsabilidade pelos eventos.
