O senador Esteban Velásquez apresentou uma reforma constitucional para permitir que a Controladoria-Geral da República supervisione empresas estatais como a Codelco.

A iniciativa segue uma auditoria interna realizada em maio que detectou uma supervalorização de quase 27.000 toneladas na produção reportada da Codelco para 2025. Velásquez, do partido FRVS e representante da Região de Antofagasta, afirmou que os números foram inflados para o pagamento de bônus a executivos e trabalhadores. O projeto de lei busca complementar revisões legais e financeiras com auditorias técnicas e rastreabilidade operacional. O senador observou que a Codelco é a principal empresa estatal e que seu impacto afeta as finanças nacionais. Ele propôs a criação de uma unidade especial dentro da Controladoria, se necessário. O projeto já foi anunciado na câmara e encaminhado à Comissão de Constituição do Senado.
