O Ministro do Serviço Público, Geoffrey Ruku, expressou choque durante sua visita a Garissa na manhã de quinta-feira ao encontrar muitos escritórios do governo fechados e funcionários ausentes.

O Ministro Ruku chegou a Garissa na noite anterior à quinta-feira e chegou aos escritórios pela manhã. Ele encontrou todo o prédio com apenas um funcionário presente e muitas portas trancadas.

Ele observou que os escritórios devem abrir às 7h30, conforme as diretrizes de 2016 para a região Nordeste. Um intervalo de duas horas ao meio-dia é permitido para permitir que os muçulmanos façam suas orações.

O Comissário Regional do Nordeste, John Otieno, estava ausente, pois estava em Wajir supervisionando os preparativos para as celebrações do Dia de Madaraka, marcadas para 1º de junho de 2026.

O ministro enfatizou que os funcionários devem permanecer diligentes após o governo ter aumentado seus salários com efeito a partir de 1º de julho de 2025.
