Os textos solicitam pagamentos via links para sites falsos que pedem dados do cartão, como nome, número e CVV. A NTSA informou que o contato legítimo utiliza os códigos curtos NTSA ou 22847_NTSA e o site ntsa.go.ke. A autoridade aconselhou os destinatários a não clicar em links, não responder ou pagar, e a apagar as mensagens. Aqueles que efetuaram pagamentos devem entrar em contato com seu banco imediatamente. A NTSA está trabalhando com agências de investigação para identificar os responsáveis.
