Tom Strawson heads to Badminton Horse Trials on cheap ex-racehorse

Amateur eventer Tom Strawson is set to make his five-star debut at Badminton Horse Trials this spring on Public Address, a retrained racehorse he bought cheaply. The 37-year-old combines full-time property work with point-to-point riding and hunting.

Tom Strawson, a former Midlands Area champion jockey, will ride Public Address, known as Brian, at the Badminton Horse Trials scheduled for 6-10 March. He finished 21st with the horse at Burghley Horse Trials last year. Strawson won the Harborough Ride this spring and works full time in property while pursuing eventing as one of several passions.
