Asobo Studio Rejects Generative AI for A Plague Tale Games

French developer Asobo has confirmed it will not use Generative AI tools for its A Plague Tale series despite working with smaller teams.

Eric Chort, producer on Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, said the studio made the decision to preserve originality and authenticity. Approximately 40 people worked on A Plague Tale: Innocence and around 70 on A Plague Tale: Requiem, with a similar team size for the upcoming title. Chort stated at a recent press event that the team prefers to focus on unique settings, characters and artistic direction rather than adopt the technology. 'We prefer not to use it at all and keep our creativity,' he said. Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy is scheduled for release on 27 October for PC via Steam and Epic, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and Game Pass.
