Arvind Panagariya råder RBI att låta rupien försvagas

Arvind Panagariya, ordförande för den 16:e finanskommissionen, har uppmanat Reserve Bank of India att sluta försvara rupien aggressivt med valutareserver. Han beskrev den psykologiska gränsen på 100 rupier per dollar som bara en siffra.

Panagariya sade att det vore rätt respons på trycket från stigande oljepriser att låta valutan försvagas. Han varnade för att fortsatt intervention skulle leda till att reserverna sinar utan bestående framgång. Rådet kommer mitt i pågående valutautmaningar för Indien.
