Fernando Alonso says Aston Martin has resolved the seating problem that caused him back pain at the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks earlier.
Alonso retired after 23 laps in Montreal because of discomfort from the extreme position of his seat in the AMR26. The team adjusted the seat during that weekend without success. Speaking on Thursday ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Alonso said the team had tested four different positions and returned to the 2025 baseline. 'We changed a lot since Canada,' he said. 'I think I'm very relaxed, optimistic, that the problem of Canada – where I was very uncomfortable with pain – it's not anymore there.' The reclined seating was introduced at the request of managing technical partner Adrian Newey to lower the centre of gravity and reduce turbulence. Alonso noted that even small changes in angle or pressure points can affect nerves after 20 or 30 laps.
