Gavana wa zamani wa Nairobi Mike Sonko ameamuru wakili wake kuwasilisha ombi mahakamani ili kuzuia kufutwa kwa hadhi ya kituo cha polisi cha Capitol Hill. Anasema hatua hiyo itaathiri usalama wa Upper Hill, eneo muhimu la kimfumo nchini. Hii inakuja baada ya Wizara ya Mambo Ndani kutangaza mipango ya kufunga kituo hicho.

Mike Sonko, mkazi wa Upper Hill, alitoa taarifa kwenye kurasa zake za mitandao ya kijamii Aprili 11, akiwaeleza wawakili wake waandikisheni ombi la dharura mahakamani chini ya vifungu vya 22, 23, 10, 247 na 258 vya Katiba ya Kenya.

"Kama mkazi wa Upper Hill... nimewaamuru wakili wangu... kushinda na kuzuia kufutwa kwa hadhi ya Kituo cha Polisi cha Capitol Hill," alisema Sonko. Alisisitiza kuwa Upper Hill si eneo lolote; ni kitovu muhimu cha taifa, chenye mahakama ya Milimani, Ofisi ya Mkurugenzi wa Mashtaka ya Umma, Hospitali ya Taifa ya Kenyatta, benki na viwanja vya diplomasia kama ubalozi wa Japan na Tanzania.

Wizara ya Mambo Ndani imetangaza mipango ya kufunga kituo hicho kama sehemu ya marekebisho ya kuongeza ufanisi wa polisi na kusambaza rasilimali Nairobi. Afisa polisi wamehamishwa au kupelekwa vituo vingine wakati mchakato unaendelea.

Sonko pia alitaja rekodi muhimu za kisheria zilizopo kituoni, ikijumuisha ingizo la Kitabu cha Tukio (OB) anayotegemea katika kesi yake. Aidha, wakazi wa Kibra, Westlands, Kilimani na Dagoretti wametoa waziri Kipchumba Murkomen ultimatum ya siku 14 kurudisha kituo, wakiakisi wataenda mahakamani.
