Mgomo wa bei ya mafuta ulioisha Jumanne ulifichua jinsi Mombasa inavyotegemea usambazaji wa chakula kutoka maeneo ya bara. Upungufu mkubwa ulitokea katika Soko la Kongowea na kusababisha bei kupanda.

Mgomo uliodumu Jumatatu na Jumanne uliwazuia wasafirishaji kuingia Mombasa kwa kuhofia mashambulizi. Malori kutoka Meru, Taveta na maeneo mengine hayakufika, na hivyo kuacha wafanyabiashara wakikabiliana na hasara.
