Kenya na Rwanda wasaini mkataba wa mafuta kupitia bandari ya Mombasa

Kenya na Rwanda zimesaini makubaliano ya kihistoria ili Kenya ishughulikie uagizaji wa mafuta ya Rwanda kupitia bandari ya Mombasa na kampuni ya bomba la mafuta.

Makubaliano hayo yalitiwa saini Jumatatu, Juni 29, 2026, wakati wa sherehe iliyoongozwa na Waziri wa Nishati na Petroli Opiyo Wandayi. Nchi hizo mbili zilisaini Mkataba wa Maelewano, Mkataba wa Utatu na Mkataba wa Usafiri na Uhifadhi ili kuwezesha mpangilio mpya wa uagizaji mafuta.

Mkataba huo unafungua ukanda wa kaskazini kwa uagizaji wa bidhaa za petroli zilizosafishwa kwa wingi chini ya mpangilio wa serikali kwa serikali. Mafuta yanayopita kwenda Rwanda yanatarajiwa kuongezeka kutoka mita za ujazo 50,000 hadi zaidi ya 500,000 kila mwaka.

Rwanda inaagiza bidhaa zake zote za petroli zilizosafishwa na hapo awali ilitegemea zaidi bandari ya Dar es Salaam. Shehena ya kwanza chini ya mpangilio mpya inatarajiwa kufika Mombasa mwezi Septemba.
