Waziri Wandayi aamuru kusimamisha malipo ya mafuta ya Ksh4.8B yaliyoagizwa kinyume

Waziri wa Nishati na Petroli Opiyo Wandayi ameamuru Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) kutotia hesabu mafuta 60,000 tani za super petrol zilizowekwa nje ya makubaliano ya serikali-kwa-serikali (G-to-G). Amesimamisha malipo yote yanayohusiana na usafirishaji huu na kuagiza One Petroleum Ltd kuondoa ankara zote. Hatua hii inalenga kulinda usalama wa soko la mafuta na kuzuia ongezeko la bei.

Waziri Opiyo Wandayi alifanya taarifa Jumatatu, Aprili 7, 2026, akisema usafirishaji wa tani 60,000 za super petrol ulifanyika kinyume na taratibu za G-to-G. Mafuta haya yaligharimu Ksh198,000 kwa tani moja ikilinganishwa na Ksh140,000 chini ya makubaliano ya serikali. Tofauti ya bei ya Ksh58,000 kwa tani moja ingeweza kusababisha ongezeko la Ksh14 kwa lita moja sokoni, alisema.

"Tani 60,000 za super petrol ziliagizwa hivi karibuni nchini kinyume na taratibu za mfumo wa mikataba wa G-to-G na wauzaji wa kimataifa," alisema Wandayi. "Kitendo hiki kilileta hatari kwa uadilifu wa mfumo uliokuwa ukilinda usalama wa usambazaji na uthabiti wa bei."

Kwa kujibu, ameamuru EPRA kutotia hesabu hiyo katika gharama za kila mwezi na kusimamisha malipo yote hadi uchunguzi ukamilike. One Petroleum Ltd imeagizwa kuondoa ankara zote na kutoa noti za mkopo, huku kampuni za uuzaji mafuta zitaonya dhidi ya kulipia au kuchukua mafuta haya.
