Mwombaji amepeleka kesi mahakama kuu ya Kenya kupinga ongezeko la bei ya mafuta lililotangazwa na epra. Anadai hakuna ushirikishwaji wa umma na anataka ufichuzi wa jinsi bei zinavyohesabwa.

Mwombaji anataka mahakama isitishe utekelezaji wa bei mpya za mafuta zilizotangazwa Mei 14. Bei ya petroli ilipanda kwa shilingi 16.65 hadi shilingi 214.25 kwa lita huku dizeli ikipanda kwa shilingi 46.29 hadi shilingi 242.92.

Anadai epra na hazina ya taifa zifichue gharama za kutua, ushuru, viwango vya ubadilishaji na matumizi ya shilingi bilioni tano za mfuko wa maendeleo ya petroli. Pia anataka ripoti za kiufundi kuhusu kuepushwa kwa viwango vya salfa.

Chama cha wenye magari nchini Kenya kimetangaza mgomo wa kitaifa kuanzia Jumatatu Mei 18 kupinga ongezeko hilo. Naibu rais Kithure Kindiki alisema mapitio ya bei yanatokana na migogoro ya kimataifa ambayo serikali haina udhibiti nayo.
