Polisi wa Nairobi wamekamata watu 11 katika maandamano dhidi ya ongezeko la bei za mafuta yaliyotangazwa na EPRA Jumanne, Aprili 21. Mohamud alisema, “Hadi sasa tumewakamata 11 na watafikishwa mahakamani kesho,” akiongeza kuwa zaidi ya asilimia 98 ya biashara zimefunguka na hakuna sababu ya hofu. Alilia wafanyabiashara waliyefunga maduka kurejea shughuli zao.

Huko Embu, mamia ya vijana walifunga barabara, kuchoma magurudumu na kusababisha vurugu na polisi, na wakaifanya mji kuwa na taharuki. Katika Kitengela, vijana wakiongozwa na Bob Njagi wa kundi la Free Movement walifunga barabara ya Namanga na kutawanywa kwa vitoa machozi. Maandamano pia yaliripotiwa Kiritiri na Karatina, Nyeri, lakini hakukuwa na matukio makubwa pwani au Bonde la Ufa.

Polisi walikanusha madai ya mitandao ya kijamii kuhusu risasi Mlolongo, wakisema hali ilikuwa shwari hapo. EPRA ilitangaza ongezeko la bei ili kushughulikia gharama za juu kutokana na mzozo wa Mashariki ya Kati.
