Waziri wa Hazina John Mbadi amewahakikishia Wanakenya kuwa nchi ina akiba ya kutosha ya mafuta licha ya mabadiliko ya bei za kimataifa. Alisema Kenya ina siku 16 za petroli, 19 za dizeli na 49 za parafini, na tani 290,000 za ziada zinakuja hivi karibuni. Pia alionya dhidi ya kununua kwa hofu na kuhifadhi mafuta.

Waziri wa Hazina John Mbadi alionekana mbele ya Kamati ya Fedha ya Bunge la Kitaifa tarehe 2 Aprili 2026, akihakikisha kuwa usambazaji wa mafuta bado uko salama. "Tuna siku 16 za petroli, 19 za dizeli, na 49 za parafini katika akiba, na tani 290,000 zaidi zinatarajiwa hivi karibuni," alisema.

Serikali inafanya kazi kuleta utulivu wa bei za mafuta licha ya migogoro ya Mashariki ya Kati inayosababisha ongezeko la bei za pampu duniani. "Tunafanya kazi kuleta utulivu wa bei ili zisiathiri uchumi. Kutoka kwa dalili, hatukuwa na usumbufu wa usambazaji," Mbadi aliongeza.

Alionya stesheni za mafuta dhidi ya kuhifadhi mafuta kutokana na uvumi wa ongezeko la bei. "Bei zinaweza kuongezeka kidogo, lakini tutatumia mbinu zetu kuleta utulivu. Hakuna sababu ya uvumi, tuko ndani," alisema. Pia alishauri madereva wasijaze tangi kamili bila lazima, kwani itadumu wiki moja tu.

Ripoti za Aprili 1 zilisema EPRA iliongeza bei, lakini EPRA ilikanusha kuwa hati hiyo ni bandia. EPRA hutangaza bei za juu zaidi tarehe 14 kila mwezi. Rais William Ruto pia amehakikisha nchi iko tayari dhidi ya upungufu wowote wa mafuta.
